    Description

    1995 Menace Skateboard Co.

Fabian Alomar Pro Model – “Flag 18”
A rare example of a used/refurbished vintage deadstock complete skateboard; a pro model from the most colorful skater in an important Los Angeles skateboard team and brand:  Menace.  This is Fabian Alomar's seventh pro model deck, and the last to feature the original Menace logo.  A heart-of-the-90's slim, solid stunt wood designed for ledges and rails.  Original Menace-badged products are ultra rare today and may be more ephemeral than the timeframe of the company itself.  Original sales were light and the company stamps on the boards seemed to change daily
["Menace Skateboard" > "MNC Skateboard" > "All-City" > "City Stars"]
.  That's not even mentioning the disintegration of the Menace team to copyright lawsuits, and unrelated jail terms for the team principals...the true outlaw label of skating.
Deck purchased in San Francisco in late 1995, and converted for Stage 7 six-hole Independent trucks sometime in 1997.
New items installed:  MOB GRIP clear grip tape, Independent truck bushings and truck pivot cups, all hardware with 1” Independent cross bolts, and 1/8” Independent risers.
    Damaged/repaired areas:
    1) plastic wood filler used on both ends in approximately 1.5 square inch areas to replace chips
    2) cedar shims and plastic wood filler to seal unused hardware holes
    3) 80 to 220 grit sanding progression of bottom and sealed with 5 coats of spray polyurethane
    Deck:
    • 7.25" X 29" – “Flag 18” Fabian Alomar Pro Model; 7-ply salmon/rose maple
    • original pre-lawsuits Menace Skateboard logo and Fabian Alomar chyron on topside
    • bottom graphic lost; sanded largely free of paint and sealed with 5 coats of clear gloss spray polyurethane
    Trucks:
    • back:
    Independent
Stage 8 126mm Duralites - mid 1997 (crazy rare and in 'like new' condition - refer to picture #6)
    • front:
    Independent
    Stage 8 129mm
    Hardware:
    • 1.25-inch Independent cross bolts - brand new
    Wheels:
    • used 52mm 99a Spitfire Formula-Four with brand new Bones REDS bearings
This deck is ready for hard skating and/or in refurbished condition for preservation.  The original salmon-rose staining to the Canadian maple plywood is surprisingly tasteful and subtle for the Menace era.  Owing to its heritage and DNA, I would say it has at least one more gang fight in it, and could substitute for currency in potentially extralegal transactions...don't let Fabian catch you slipping though, he'd snatch this from you right quick.
