Description
The tragic headline reads "Ex-Beatle John Lennon slain" and was published by The Charlotte News (CLT) on Tuesday, December 9, 1980. This is the original authentic vintage front section of the newspaper, not a reproduction, from the day the music died. Overall, it's in very good condition and will absolutely be an impressive display item for any fan, collector, enthusiast, or historian. Size is 12x24 inch half fold tabloid. 12 pages of content. On the evening of 8 December 1980, English musician John Lennon, formerly of the Beatles, was fatally shot in the archway of the Dakota, his residence in New York City. The perpetrator was Mark David Chapman, an American Beatles fan who had travelled from Hawaii. A worldwide outpouring of grief ensued on an unprecedented scale. Crowds gathered at Roosevelt Hospital and in front of the Dakota, and at least three Beatles fans committed suicide. (Wikipedia)
