Description
Offered for sale is a beautiful vintage free blown glass sugar bowl. The sugar bowl has a deep amethyst color and reminds me a lot of the early Pittsburgh pieces, but I believe it is later period likely made by Pairpoint during the early 1900s. The sugar bowl has a circular foot and flared upper bowl which creates space for the lid. The bottom of the sugar bowl has a smooth polished pontil mark and the lid is conical in form with an applied wafer style finial. Overall the sugar bowl stands about 7" tall with the lid in place and measures about 4 5/8" in diameter. It is not marked on the bottom. The overall condition of the sugar bowl is very good. It does have a small chip on rim of the lid, the outside rim of the base and potentially a flake on the tip of the finial, but I can't be certain of this one. It may have been made this way. The color is very deep and the clarity of the glass is excellent with no cloudiness. Both the interior and exterior are clean with only standard light scratches to the base and exterior.
