Description
JOHN LENNON - THIS IS AN ORIGINAL PROMOTIONAL PACK FOR JOHN LENNON'S BAG ONE ART EXHIBIT FROM 1970.
This promotional pack was used to promote
John Lennon's controversial BAG ONE
art showing of his suite of 14 original lithographs held at the Lee Nordness Gallery in New York. Exhibit from February 7 through February 28, 1970. Very limited and rare. This promotional pack was given out to promote the exhibit. I have NEVER seen another one myself. I don't know how many were made but with the quality of this presentation and the printing of the 14 lithographs, there could not have been many made. This one is totally intact and complete - no copies or anything of that nature. ALL ORIGINAL.
THIS PROMOTIONAL PACK WAS PURCHASED FROM LEE NORDNESS (THE GALLERY OWNER) IN THE 1980s. WE PURCHASED ALL OF THE REMAINING CATALOGUES HE HAD FROM THE ORIGINAL EXHIBIT, TOGETHER WITH OTHER VARIOUS ITEMS HAVING TO DO WITH THE EXHIBIT. WE ALSO PURCHASED A NUMBER OF THE ORIGINAL SIGNED AND NUMBER LITHOGRAPHS.
CONTENTS OF THE PROMOTIONAL PACK ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. A BROWN TEXTURED FOLDER - MEASURES 8 3/4 INCHES BY 11 1/2 INCHES. THE FIRST FOUR PHOTOS ARE THE FRONT, THE INNER 2 SIDES AND THE BACK OF THE FOLDER.
2. ALL 14 ART PRINTS CONTAINED IN THE BAG ONE SET - EACH MEASURES 8 1/2 INCHES BY 11/ 1/4 INCHES - ON HEAVY LITHO TYPE TEXTURED PAPER. 3 OF THE 14 IMAGES ARE CONTAINED IN THE PHOTOS.
3. ONE SMALLER 5 1/2 INCHES BY 8 1/2 INCHES - IT IS THE SMALLER PICTURE IN THE PHOTOS AND IS IN RED. COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE FRONTISPIECE OF THE BAG ONE LITHOGRAPH SERIES.
4. THE OUTER ENVELOPE FOR THE SET - IT IS THE LAST PICTURE IN THE PHOTOS. MEASURES 9 INCHES BY 12 INCHES. THE FRONT OF THE ENVELOPE HAS "John Lennon/bag one" PRINTED ON IT.
IN INCREDIBLY GREAT CONDITION BUT FOR SOME MINOR CORNER DINGS AND THE LIKE. THE LITHOGRAPHIC PRINTS ARE JUST STUNNING - TOTALLY SUITABLE FOR FRAMING.

John Lennon originally created a portfolio of drawings in 1969 as a wedding present to his wife Yoko Ono. These drawings depicted John & Yoko's wedding and intimate portraits from their honeymoon and were named "Bag One".
Subsequently, in 1970 John took 14 of his favorite drawings from the Bag One portfolio to be produced as 35.25" x 29" stone lithographs. The prints were in limited editions of 300 each and were to be sold in fine art galleries. John personally signed and numbered each lithograph in pencil.
NOTE: SOME OF THE DRAWINGS ARE FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.
