The John Lennon New York Years Talking Figure was released in 2006. I actually bought mine in the local mall as the guy was stocking them on the shelf. Being a huge Lennon fan, I had to have it. A couple days later I was in the mall again and noticed that there were no more in the store....anywhere! I was looking to buy one for my dad as well. I asked an employee if they were sold out and he informed me they were all pulled and being sent back to the company. He wasn't sure of the details but said it was a licensing issue. Some time passed and I eventually saw them again on the shelf but noticed now that the figure only had two recorded phrases instead of six like mine. I was really curious now. So I asked one of the workers there if they knew what the deal was with this figure. They informed me that pretty much as soon as they had placed them on the shelf, they had to take them right back down because the company didn't have permission from Yoko Ono to use six recordings, only two. I told the employee that I was glad I bought it when I did then. She said, "Yeah, I would definitely hang onto that." Well, I have for 12 years and I'm ready to get rid of it along with a few other collectibles I'm tired of taking space. The condition of this item is new, never been opened but the package does have a little collector's wear from so many years as you would expect. This is truly an amazing piece to have for any Lennon/Beatles fan and a rare gem for the collector.
