Description
I am downsizing my personal items. Please read this entire listing before purchasing. Thanks. JimR24CONTENTS:
1) "Playboy Magazine," February 1965: with 7-page Beatles Interview; Kim Novak Pictorial; Playmate of the Year, Donna Michelle Pictorial; Jessica St. George- Playmate of the Month; "Little Annie Fanny," a Harvey Kurtzman James Bond spoof cartoon, 1965 Stereo Equipment.
I bought the magazine at a record-show from a collector many years ago, and it has remained in a plastic bag in dry smoke-free storage ever since.
The original inserts and advertisements are still in the magazine.
I rated its condition as "acceptable," from a subjective consumer standpoint. I am not a magazine dealer and don't know what is considered "good" for a 60-year-old magazine. The cover has some creases, fading, and noticeable shelf-wear, but the staples and binding are intact, and the magazine is still quite durable. The pages show some fading and normal wear, and the glossy paper shows bends here and there, but no brittleness or musty smell. Page 169 has 2 small cartoon drawings cut out (see photo). This is the only missing or ripped part I ran across in the entire magazine. Even the centerfold is in good shape. There appears to be no writing or markups on any pages.
2)
8-page newspaper excerpt
"The Grand Rapids Press,"
December 9, 1980:
John Lennon memorial issue (2 complete approximately 23 inch tall x 30 inch wide sheets) from the original newspaper, including the headline page and others containing John Lennon tribute. This newspaper was bought new by me and stored folded in a smoke-free, dry environment since 1980 (42 years ago). Some fraying and small rips along the top edges from storage. A 2-inch long slit in the center of the 1st page could easily be taped. The newsprint shows typical age.
3) John Lennon: 1995 Tanzania Postage 9 Stamp Set with Certificate of Authenticity (COA) & 100 Lennon Facts pamphlet. Commemorative Tanzania Stamp Set is unused and still in its original plastic sleeve.
4)
18-page "
Playboy" magazine
excerpt
,
January 1981: Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The entire John and Yoko interview was cut from the original issue of "Playboy" magazine and stapled together. It shows light wear.
I have described these items to the best of my ability. Please look at the photos and ask any specific questions/reservations prior to purchasing, since the items are from my personal collection, I am not a magazine/newspaper dealer, and I don't accept returns. All photos show the actual items.
PACKING:
The 1965 "Playboy" magazine is placed in its plastic storage bag between protective cardboard for added stiffness. This is then sealed in additional plastic bags and secured with fiberglass strapping tape.
The newspaper is double-folded (like it was stored) around a thick piece of corrugated cardboard for protection. This wrapping is then further sealed in a plastic bag. The 1981 John Lennon "Playboy" article and Tanzania stamps are also sealed in a ziploc bag and sandwiched between cardboard for stiffness. The entire contents are finally placed inside a 12 x 14-inch bubble-lined mailing envelope.
To protect the contents while opening, please be careful not to cut too deeply into the protective packing.
