How to use:
Remove all the old paint and degrease a workpiece that you are going to powder coat.
Connect an air compressor (2 hp motor/ 24 liters reservoir recommended) to the powder coating gun. Coat a workpiece with a powder in a color of your choice.
Put a workpiece inside an oven for 20 minutes at 180
°C
/ 360 °F.
Workpiece can be used and mounted once it cools down to a room temperature.
How Tribo powder coating gun works:
Powder paint particles get electrostatically charged while rubbing along the wavy Teflon tube inside the nozzle of the gun. Then powder paint sticks to a grounded workpiece. This is very similar to a dust sticking to an old computer screen or TV. Powder sticks securely and a workpiece can be shaken before a curing.
This process is different compared to a corona process where powder is charged up to 100 000 kilovolts by a high voltage transformer. This extremelly high voltage makes a powder stick to a workpiece. Corona powder coating guns can produce an
orange peel
effect in a cured powder surface. High voltage in this process can lead to a difficulties while coating inside corners because of the Faraday cage effect.
Tribo powder coaitng is also safer because of the absence of such a high voltage.
